.....and with avengence!

South Island Trip, Day 2:

I met up with the Flying Kiwi bus today. I instantly was thrust into a world of hanging towels, Swiss Germans, a smattering of people from the UK, and some Canadians....which made for a great combo, eh?

After being on the bus for a half an hour, I was presented with the option to sign up for the optional activity the next morning.....WHITE WATER RAFTING!!!!!!!!! (A little more hardcore than tea, me thinks.) Our bus driver explained that this was the best bang for buck deal and was one of the only trips that you could go over two grade five rapids!!! I had no idea what the grades ment, but she soon explained that a grade one rapid is like being in a pool and a grade six was instant death to the novice. So what real choice did I have? And plus, I found comfort that the older Canadian couple were signing up for it (little did I know that they were both ubber experienced rafters...oops..).

The actual rafting was "sweet as." I sat up front with a guy named "Big Neal" and we were all entertained by our guide Ben and his sudden shouts of "Get Down!!!!"

I will let the pictures do the rest of the talking for me.  But after the rafting at 7am, we drove and camped on the shore line of Lake Pukaki!
